Curious about the doctor's dash. Was it a vehicle that was parked out in the sun all day...
The other thing that I have heard that destorys dashes (do not know whether this is rumour or true) are products like Armourall. Whilst they make the vinyl look good at the time, they are not good over the long term.
I used a molded carpet dash cover in my '94 850 because I noticed it had started to fade a little in places. That stopped the problem and the dash was fine when I sold the car in 2002. The cover also had the benefit of reducing dash reflection off the windscreen.
As for my 2002 XC, had a number of trim items repaired or fixed, had the entire driver's seat replaced under warranty because the leather stitching came apart. The new seat is a) turning blue because I wear jeans a lot and b) wearing through where my belt rubs it at hip level.
The rear seat leather is cut in several places - either from kids school bags or small dog (not sure which - just appeared one day), which is disappointing. Certainly the quality of the leather is not nearly as robust as the 850 was.
