Dynamat makes a very big difference to sound quality - especially the bass.
I know! First time around, I installed them without Dynamat, and I just couldn't get the bass to sound right, the threshhold
between not enough bass and too "boomy" was slim. I suspected that some sort of dampening material was needed. I had hear of Dynamat here, and found a good deal on eBay. Took another stab at it on saturday. It smoothed out the boominess (I assume this is what is referred to as "standing waves"), and now have a much wider latitude in the bass response.

When I installed the speakers in mine I used "some" Dynamat.
I think I need to remove the panels and do a complete cover over.
Usually this is not needed but for whatever reason, this XC needs it

Jim, same for me.
After just doing the front doors, the difference is amazing.
I will be doing the rest of the car asap!
I had busy month working on my car. Replacing front and rear brake pads and rotors. Replacing the passenger outer tie rod and doing both inner tie rod ends. Replacing rear end links. While we were working on replacing the end links we bent the rear driver side control arm. My question is how hard is it to replace the rear control arm? As i hope its finally done with its 100k major service and ready to drive it again

Replaced front struts, spring seats (IPD HD), strut mounts, strut boots & bump stops, lower control arms, balljoints and rear shocks.
Might need a right front axle soon, slight driveline vibration at 55-65 and bit of grease escaping from the tripod joint (inner joint on the axle), but at 161,000 it's still running well and is a really nice driving car.

Installed a GROM audio usb/android unit to integrate my android phone with the stereo.
The installation videos didn't quite match because the '05 models have a different way of getting the radio out than the earlier years. The package was also missing a posi-tap connector so I got the power cable right into the harness that goes into the stereo. It was also a freaking b!+ch to get the cables routed around to a good spot. I got the GROM device in the glove compartment, and a female USB connector in the little hole on the left side of the passenger foot well. (What is that hole supposed to be for anyway?)
Tomorrow I should be receiving a 64GB microSD card so I can actually fit music on my phone.
Overall I'm pretty pleased with it. Music is very clear. I do not hear any static or hiss. It has a grounding wire that I attached to a screw on the back of the radio, with probably helps. I do wish the cable going from the radio to the GROM unit was longer though.
