Your DIM is on its way out. That's one of the first signs.

Dave, can you point me to more info on this? My previous car, a 2004 S60, did the same for the whole time I owned it (about 2 years) with no indications of other DIM issues, and when it was at the dealer for another problem the tech told me that the issue could be resolved with an update. I didn't have it done at that time as they would have charged me for it, but since the software update was included with my XC70 service I hoped it would fix the issue.

3 month follow-up. I'm probably jinxing myself, but the odometer hasn't reset itself since I had the car in the shop for service and had the software updates done.

I had the car detailed over the weekend, and now it looks as good as it runs.

Dropped the XC off at the dealer once more for the next few days to have the Angle gear inspected.

Not sure which item was the magic bullet, but I suspect the TCV/Vacuum hoses completely smoothed my hard accelerations out. It's like a brand new car.

    - New gas filter
    - Oil/filter change
    - Bumper removal to inspect both washer pumps (headlights+windshield)... both have failed. VALEO pump for the headlights, FORD pump for the windshield. Im calling my Ford service center to buy the same pump for half the price....

Wellll, I'd have to think about it- but it would cost significantly more than $3.00!
If you pop out the vent and send it to me, I think I could accomplish an even better execution (now that I have the bugs worked out) for about $150. Oh, and for it to work- the gauge must be 52mm. But, really- a trip to the Home Depot electrical conduit parts isle, sandpaper, Dremel cutting disc, some JB Weld, Rust Oleum Primer and Rust Oleum Flat Black, and a little sense of adventure, and you're in business!
