    Art,

I was able to pick up a wiper motor free from a 2004. I also took the arm. Its the opposite side of what i have on my 03. Will it still work if if I use the 04 motor and 04 wiper are? Can you switch sides?

    Jim,

It appears that the same chassis rule also applies to the rear wiper motor as it does with the cover. That being said, I can't see why it wouldn't work on the opposite side if you have the applicable parts. The only issue might be that the configuration of the 04 wiper motor and mounting holes isn't an exact match to the original motor. I guess you'll discover that once the tailgate panel is removed.

If it does works, it would likely be a first for this site.

    Thanks Art.

When it gets a bit warmer up here I'll give it a shot.

    So I fixed it.

I took out a wiper motor out of a 2004. It was the opposite side. I took mine out then realized the knozzle was broke off of the 2004 motor. so I took my 2003 motor apart. To see if i could use that knozzle. when I got it apart I pulled out the white nylon gear to see what was up with it. I noticed that there was a ring of rust around the ring where the electonic tabs make contact. There was a pattern to it and it was obvious that this controlled the start and stop location of the wiper. I cleaned it, sanded the rust off and put it back together. It works perfect. See pictures below. Those rusty rings should not be there. So if anyone else has a problem with the wiper stopping where ever it wants whenyou trun the switch to off this is your fix.

2004 Pump with broken knozzle. Anyone need one? It was working so if you can pull yours apart and replace the knozzle it should work. Wiper rests to the right with this one...

See broken knozzle in this pic....this is the part that directs the washer fluid.

    Default Water in motor housing

Hi, I just replaced a broken nozzle this weekend and decided to take the housing apart and noticed that there was about a teaspoon of water in there (no rust though). The nozzle broke about a month ago (probably while I was clearing off snow from the car) and I didn't get a chance to replace it until now so just be aware that rain water can get in and contaminate the contacts and possibly the motor with a broken nozzle that's left unrepaired.

I followed the steps in the tread and was able to fix both nozzle and cover on my 2005 XC70.
    Thank you for the help!

Thanks for these tips/instructions. I broke the rear washer nozzle on my '03 last week while trying to take the wiper arm off. Ordered replacement parts rom IPD. Nozzle was $8.58. Easy half-hour job to fix it. Thanks!
    Cheers, Gary

What seemed like a big deal was literally a 10 second fix! - Thanks Harry and co.
