Question Is $10K off an 08 XC70 worth it?

I have an 04 XC70 with damn near everything. The (only) local dealer has an ad in the paper for $10K off 08 XC70 if you are a current Volvo owner. I've read in the various threads complaints about sluggishness of the non-turbo engine. Someone was chipping one but hasn't posted results. NADA on mine right now with just under 80K miles is about $12-13K. Should I even drive down there to look?

    Default I have an 08 xc70

I have had only two problems with it..

both have been fixed.... Gets about 27/28 on highway FLAT windows up air on

    3.2 engine.. SOLID car

    would buy one again...

IT IS NOT A SPORTS CAR
IT IS A FAMILY STATION WAGON 4 wheel drive

if you want a sports car get one
if you want anything but what it is buy the other car..

I am very very happy with it ....

    YMMV

I have to agree with the above poster. I have put 5000+ km on my '09 with the 3.2 and also own a '05 V50 2.4i. The XC70 and V50 are abount the same for acceleration...I do believe the 3.2 is enough for my style of driving and don't find it sluggish. The only bad thing about it is that it's thirsty! Now the only matter that counts is if you need/want to change cars. Just try the 3.2 if you feel any desire to change cars: I know the test drive convinced me

I think the 10k off the car includes some of your trade, expect your trade in to be low, basically they take some off of your trade and sell you the car at invoice- they still make a little money with dealer holdbacks and incentives its called trade and discount. Thats what happens it is good advertising though. I know this because I sold cars for a while and I recently left because it sucked. Try and bargain a little more, some of these deals really are good though.

Here is what you will know.
If the dealer takes your offer or you take his advertized offer, than the dealer is making money. There may be a loss to someone along the way but its not the dealer otherwise they don't stay in business. The markup on actual cost to the manufacturer versas the sticker is very high and the manufacturerer can easily pass big cuts to the dealer.
So, make a low offer and be prepared to walk or at least negotiate from a low position and not an advertized offer.-Dick

Well, we went down to look. We looked, we drove. Didn't expect to like it so much. We talked numbers, they lowballed, we walked. They offered $8200 for my 04 XC70. That put us at $26757 for the 08. It has BLIS, parking alert thingy, Premium, convenience, climate, bi-X, Sat prep, child booster seats, 17" wheels. But I can live without it.

thats what I figured would happen, they will call and offer you more, but dont expect what you want they will say "we dont have that much to work with" but eventually if you are strong they will get close.

You're right, they did offer more. But only after I played two other dealers against them. We drove home with it this afternoon!
