Anyone using the 119176 kit from etrailer?
Sorry - it's not closed. I didn't use the one from eTrailer - I used the OEM 7-pin from Volvo with good success. There is a grey plug in your spare tire wheelwhell that it should plug into - but I would personally visit your local dealership and get the 7 pin connector and then them activiate the trailer lights to the connector - its not that much and is something you can talk to them about. If your trailer if 4 pin you can get a 7-4 pin adaptor for a few dollars at an RV store.
Hope this helps.

hi,
Quick question where i am connecting yellow "brake lights"
on the trailer end i have 4 wires,
white - ground
braun - tail (i think it is 12v)
yellow - left turn
green - right turn
i am thinking to connect this way
car connector - trailer connector
(10)green (turn left ) - yellow (left)
(9) green/white (turn right ) - green (right)
(1) blue (12v) - braun (tail)
(7) ground - white
what about stop light ???where i should connect? to both left and right?
thanks for help
I need some help. I think this is best place to start. I have a 2007 Volvo XC70 and I am going to be towing a small trailer next week. Hitch is all set. What I need is to figure out the wiring. I am suppose to have a 4-wire flat. I have no idea where to start. How do I prep the car for this? Thanks!
See my post on the previous page regarding the Volvo trailer harness, it simply plugs in to your car harness in the spare tire well and exits the car through an existing factory hole. It will take 1/2 to 1 hour to install depending on how handy you are
I am installing a converter on my 2002 V70 and wonder if the red wire, 12V all ways on to the, is the one I should connect to for the power wire on the converter or if I should connect to the blue 12V switched. I assume that both wires are fused and not direct from the battery, is this correct? Thanks.

Personally, I wired all my accessories for my XC70 directly to a fuse panel - the Volvo has several of them and there are tonnes of adaptor kits to allow you to easily wire one. For example, I helped a friend wire a brake controller to a constant 12V source, and a video camera to my radio power.
Hi Willy, could you please re-upload these photos? I am looking to add a trailer harness to my 2004. I am also looking to add a brake controller if anyone has a guide on how to do that. I have looked around and have not found a definitive guide. My plan was to buy a Drawtite hitch, install it using a generic 4-way wiring system, then use the universal 4-7 wiring. My only qualm is that I am having troubles finding a guide on how to use the 7 way in conjunction with a brake controller.
The 2001-2004 cars just need a simple cable and the wiring table here may only apply to them.
The 4 pin adapter cable is 8698079, but seems NLA. The 7 pin cable is 30681980 and still around. 7 pin round to 4 pin adapters are available from Volvo or many other places.
I plan on using an aftermarket adapter and the handy table on this thread to wire up my car.
BTW if you are using an aftermarket adapter use switched power or you may end up with a battery draw while parked.
Later cars use different cables and may need programming.
