Question Kuda Mounting Base for Cell/GPS/Sat. Radio - Any Experience?

Does anyone have any experience with the fancy mounting units available from Kuda?

See http://www.kudausa.com/kuda_mount_an...07-46-404.html for the Volvo XC70 (01-07) or the attached instruction sheet. It seems like an ideal solution, it is even hollow to allow routing of wiring and special attachments are available for any device you want to mount to it. My main concern is stability since it only clips under the climate control bezel and into the duct on the passenger footwell - no screws required! Could inserting and removing a satellite radio plug-and-play unit or a GPS cause this Kuda mount to move and become loose?

    Comments welcome. Thanks,

    Harold.

Default Kuda Mounting Base for Cell/GPS/Sat. Radio - Any Experience?

Just bumping this back up a bit.

Does anyone have any experience with these, even in other cars?

    Thanks,

    Harold.

    Harold,

I don't have any experience with Kuda but it appears that their products have received positive reviews from other users.

    http://www.kudausa.com/feedback.php

It looks like a pretty stable mount to me as the back of the support is also held down by a bendable metal tab.

I've used a ProClip angle mount in our previous XC and it worked well for an iPod but the adapter cable was left exposed.

This looks interesting. Where did you see this? I don't see any Canadian distributor listed and it strikes me as the kind of thing I'd like to see before buying.

I found out about the Kuda bases from another forum (VW Rabbit), but I haven't actually seen any in real life. The Kuda units also peeked my interest hence the question about any experience. They do ship to Canada, there are some reviews on their website from Canadians. I would really want to see one live in order to make a final decision.

There isn't much advertised for the Volvos. Art's suggestion seems interesting as well and a little less pricey. Proclip has units that mount near the radio and others that mount on the centre console.

A friend of mine used the ProClip in his Toyota Tundra for a Blackberry. He was impressed by the detail on their website and
the ease of ordering the matching parts - one piece for the truck and one piece for the phone. The only thing he doesn't like is the separate charger connector. In other words, he has to drop his BB into the cradle and then plug the charger in separately.

The truck mounting piece of his uses an adhesive pad to hold it in place with a small lip that loosely catches on one of his air vents.
