Salvage XC70 2004 in US - buyers guide for European

i intend to buy salvage xc70 2004 in US for below usd 10000. is there any specific auction company you would recommend? or rather buy a used car from the private person on ebay or similar? i have a friend who can buy the auction car for me in US.

You can almost buy a GOOD 04 for that, in fact if it has 100K miles you can.
Why bother with a wreck?
A salvaged 04 (depending on what it needs and mileage) should be no more than 4-5 grand
