    Default "engine overboost"-2000 XC

What could be the possible cause of the above mentioned code? Sorry I can't remember the number of the fault, but that is what it translates to.
The car had a new turbo put on it when I bought it and, interestingly, the rear end is from a V70 R. Go figure.
Has this thing been modified or what? When I really get on it, or use the cruise control to accelerate (i.e. resume), I get the Check engine light and this code pops up.
    Please help.

The turbo was not installed properly. Exhaust gasses should start bypassing the turbo once the boost has reached the limit. There is a hose from the manifold to a diaphram on the turbo and a rod connecting that to the waste gate. There may be a problem with the hose, or the rod length needs to be adjusted. I'm not an expert on that but it should be a simple fix for a good mechanic.
As fun to fix as they are to drive.
