My 2002 XC70 was totaled back in 2004 when it was rear-ended in a similar accident. Here's a link to the photo I posted back then:

I had similar issues with my 2004 XC70 intermittently refusing to start; however whenever it DID start I would sometimes get other codes while driving, like brake system service required.
The...
I had a similar issue with my 2004 XC70, it finally failed with a message like "alarm system service required".
The dealer replaced an alarm module/controller and it resolved the issue.
The owner's manual for my 2004 XC70 states:
"Approximately 50 minutes after the ignition is turned off, the blower may come on automatically, and run for five minutes, to remove condensation in the...
I had this problem initially with my 2004 when it was new. As I recall the expected behavior is that the blower should run for 5 minutes 50 minutes after the ignition is switched off (if the A/C was...
On my 2004 I popped off the plastic cover behind the rear-view mirror and unplugged the sensor. Now the wipers revert to interval mode and the knurled knob on the washer stalk acts as expected and...
I did exactly that, closed the back door with my knee and put a nice dent in it. Paintless dent repair folks removed it completely. [thumbup]
Now I've had the opposite experience, my 2002 came with ST's, which I disliked because they became so noisy as they wore, but my 2004 came with STR's which have been much quieter. That said I've...
Can't we all just MoveOn ?
This has been suggested before, a brake dust shield.
Don't use the emergency (parking) brake in the garage?
Yes, it was totaled.
I think you bumped the switch.
I've never noticed this behavior with a MY 2002 or 2004 XC70 (and it gets pretty hot down here too) nor have I ever seen anyone in this forum comment on it before.
I make it a habit to tighten the fuel cap until I hear 3 clicks to ensure it's on tightly.
On my 2002 V70XC I had to have the actuator in the tailgate replaced (as well as the driver's side).
Are you using a synthetic motor oil? That may improve your mileage.
Those sized wheels on an XC70 look cartoonish to me, bling factor too high imho.
My only complaint is that the holder is not deep enough to close completely with my Maui Jim sunglasses inside, but I like it anyway.
The part number on my sales receipt says "V30740472", description "Retainer".
On my 2002 I also had excessive wind noise from the passenger side mirror, my dealer lessened it by adjusting the placement (sorry I don't a have additional details on how they did that). But it was...
Make sure your A/C is on for de-humidification.
I'm with you, I'll pay to have the tires rotated if it's not covered under the Volvo-paid maintenance program.
I just had my 15k mile service and thought the tire rotation was included in that service interval. However, if you check the maintenance schedule for a 2004 XC70, it is only scheduled at 7500 miles...
The annual (20 minute) Consumer Reports survey covers not only automobiles but other products such as appliances, electronics, and outdoor power equipment. It doesn't ask how I feel about these...
While that may be true for you, in the same surveys I also reported issues I have experienced with my Mazda Miata - which were zero.
