As a matter of fact I do on occasion. Is there some relevance to this?
I have an issue with the drivers side rear marker light. It is the one above the brake light and below the yellow turn signal lamp. It works very intermittently. When this first started I changed the...
I am/was having intermittent fault codes. So after some research I thought I would test battery. Battery tested weak so I replaced it. My question is how can I tell the age of the battery? Some have...
Just use your head/time. These cars are nice, and you will find one, but getting a used wore out/not maintained vehicle will cost you many hours and dollars. The excitement wears off real quick at...
By the way there is nothing missing left of the CD player. But there was a cup holder available.
Stay away from the 01/02's. 03 and up had few tranny issues. check for service records, a must. If not keep looking. JLR would be a member that could help you immensely.
Steering wheel vibration at...
Thats how rumors get started
Two different subjects.
First: Getting around to changing the timing belt on my 03 XC70 with 87K on the OD. I will also be changing the water pump. Although I have heard it is not necessary at the...
Just remember increased airflow also means increased contaminates. If the filter let' in more air it also will let in more dirt. Look at the results of UOA's on BITOG from members who used them. I am...
Mine was a 396. Met a gal and sold the car a few years later. What a fool. If we could only go back in time knowing what we know now.[mad2]
ThanksJRLIlearnsomethingneweveryday
Lost alot of HP between 70 and 71, Darn government regs.

Looking for opinions. As you can see I removed all but the SS from the Cross Country on the back of the XC.(finger nails wore out) Must be reminiscing about the good old days.(70 Chevelle...
My,
MY03(74K miles) produced a tranny flare between 2-3 and 3-4 but only after extended hwy driving, (2-3)hrs. In town it was not noticable,(fluid was not burnt, but reddish brown when checked)...

GC 0W-30 or mobil 1 0W40. Exceed all of your curent benifits.
End of story.

Astro14,
I have viewed your UOA's from Blacktone on Mobil 0W-40 and have been running it for a few years. Before that I was using GC 0-30.
I see you do not include GC 0-30, does not meet spec....
Thanks for all the advice.
I don't plan on deliberately turning the cam's after the belt is removed, I have enough stress in my life.
Like I said I have the OE parts from FCP, I have read the...
Alright trying to gather my thoughts here.
2003 XC70 81K miles. preparing to do the timing belt this fall along with the water pump etc. I have been told by numerous "Volvo persons" that the water...
Yes,
Only one plug. use it to fill and drain. Google "Mighty-Vac" that is what you can use to suck out the old fluid. Most auto parts stores sell them. Inexpensive 40.00 dollars or so.Ted
Yes,
when you buy the filter it all comes as one. Filter, two cap screws, filter cover with "O"ring attached. Make sure you use the correct fluid.
Ted
I will try and explain the procedure as to how I changed the Haldex filter on my 03 XC70.
Tools: long handle needle nose pliers, 1/4" ratchet wrench. two 4mm/1/4" insert bits(cut one in half),...
Jim,
I was also going to do the B4 cover because as you said it is inexpensive and can be done fairly easily, but after the fluid and updates it was not necessary. I used the upper port on the...
It can be done without dropping the exhaust system, drive shaft and pulling the balancer. It was tedious getting the upper 4mm bolt out and in but doable. If anyone would like to know a few tricks...
Jim,
use the upper port on the trans cooler. My 03 had the same symptoms 20K miles ago, did the "Gibbons" and had it to the dealer to download newest software, no issues since. I do not believe the...
