I have never heard of that, and I live in Sweden so I should know. I wouldn’t bother listen to the technician he must be dreaming… No the Volvo XC does crawl threw snow more then well (Very well!).

Budrichard! Did you at any point tried to deactivate the SC-control? (You deactivate the Stability Control function, with the "DSTC"-button) It usually helps a lot when driving in really deep snow....

krs! You can relax, for what I know the hood is made of aluminum. And Volvo XC is a very well built and protected car.

Should have been answered a long time ago (this spring). I have tested and the same problem goes for the XC70 -03 (Haldex) as described above. Of course you have to press the car very very hard but...
