Well, a nice family came over this week and has bought the car. They'll be picking it up this weekend.
It will be sad to see it go, but I think they'll really enjoy it and probably get much more...
We are selling our 2004 DSTC equipped XC70 Ice White with Brown interior. The color combination with the matching brown cladding and leather stitching is VERY attractive.
It has 2nd row boosters,...
I had a service about 4k miles ago, but I did just turn over 60k last month.
So maybe it is the 60k service *shrug*
Thanks,
Al
I am at around 62400k miles, and the "service" message just popped up.
I think I recall that the next normal service(not including oil changes) is at 62500 miles. I'll have to go look in my...
I had been getting around 20 around town, but now am driving about 50 miles each way to work, at a pretty constant 65-70mph, fairly level to gentle rolling terrain and am getting at best so far...
...ah, 52.5k eh? That makes more sense as I wondered why it didn't show up right at 50k.
Yeah, it gets serviced whenever its time to change the oil, or the computer tells me to
Thanks,...
Well, I just turned over 50000 miles on my 2004 and I guess it is time to head in for its service, at least according to the message center
So, two questions:
1) What should I...
Well, good news... and once again, KUDOS to my dealer who I have always said was a great asset.... they have elected to replace my ETM under warantee even though I am at 50171 miles [thumbup]
They...
Well, I can't speak to the Magnetti Marelli or Bosch ETM(sometimes also called a Throttle Position Sensor, TPS on other systems), but on my Magnetti Marelli fuel injection system on my Moto Guzzi,...
2004 XC70
- ETM failed at 48k miles, dealer would only "clean", has failed again as of today, 8 months later with 50171 miles. UGH!
- Broken top motor mount at somewhere around 40k miles,...
Well, my '04 has had the ETM act up. It was "cleaned" by the dealer 8 months ago last October, and just today I got the dreaded "Engine Performance Reduced" and lurching, heaving, barely running...
And to update this thread, 8 months later, my ETM has again failed.
Today I got the same "Engine Performance Reduced" error message, and the car bucked, heaved, and barely ran. Great :(
I took...
The ETM failed on my 2004 XC70 at 47k miles just about a month ago, so this is obviously not limited to the older 00-02 ETM units, and isn't a software issue either.
I'm glad to hear that the...
No, the dealership wasn't able to elaborate(if they even knew) why the ETM failed unfortunately.
However, I have found the Cary dealership(Volvo of Cary) to be excellent. They can't always get to...
...and now they find that it WAS the ETM that died after all.
Who knows why the angle sensor was acting up as well, or maybe that was a red herring.
I pick up the car today, but it took a day...

Well, it wasn't the ETM after all, but instead was mysteriously caused by my DSTC steering wheel angle sensor "going to sleep".
See this thread for more details:
...
Well, it wasn't the ETM as I suspected in this thread:
http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8739
...however, even more odd, the ETM symptoms("Performance Reduced" message, engine...
Yep, we'll have to see, and I'm hoping it isn't the ETM.
The dealer seemed to think it was unlikely as well on an '04.
I've got my fingers crossed that they can take a look at it in the next...
Good luck with the Lexus, as Toyota does generally make a quality product(although I heard the Avalon was something of a wayward child at first release). Everyone I know that has owned a Toyota...
Can't really say what is happening with yours, but we get a LOT of rain here.... usually all at one time, and my car has sat for up to a week without moving, and I've never seen any water drain out...
Well, among a long laundry list of other things that make me wonder what curse someone has put on our family in the last couple months.... we are moving tomorrow, and this morning I load up the XC70...
If the Volvo computer is to be trusted... I get 22-23(currently been reliably at 22.6) MPG in mixed urban/hwy mileage.
I drive about 60 miles round-trip at 65-70MPH 3 times a week, and the rest is...
I don't about long-term yet(just bought my 04), but keep in mind that the two issues noted above were for the earlier 01-ish XC70 models, especially the ETM.
I'm not certain about the fan recall,...
