some rubbing, lots of fingernail picking, kerosene to dissolve the residue and it came out pretty good. Just barely visible at the right angle, but that should buff out with a proper paint...

So a hydrocarbon solvent (eg kerosene maybe) and some elbow grease, followed by some polish? I don't think what's left under the stickers qualifies as adhesive any more... ;)

The tailgate on my V70XC is starting to flake off the giant words across the back.
Any hot tips on removing them? Will it look worse (eg mismatched 13 year old paint underneath)?
