I always make sure that the pads move freely but, like you, feel it's more important on inners than outers. Having said that, I just had to replace a rear outer pad which was worn excessively...
I noticed the same thing as you when I first started driving Volvo. However, I've never had a problem and have been able to brake satisfactorily in all conditions. On occasions visitors have driven...
I think the more popular choice of location is to remove the lighter socket and replace it with USB power using something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07MKFVW9F/
I put mine in the cubby...
Portable jump starters (aka battery boosters, emergency boosters, battery jumpers, jump boxes) often have a 12V outlet. Some of them also have inverters, flashlights, USB recharging ports, tire...
My '04 (also a Canadian model) does not have a fuel pressure sensor. On models that have one, you'll find it located at the drivers end of the fuel rail.
If car is cranking OK but not starting,...
Been too cold here for the last few days so haven't done anything more. Seat heaters are still working so OK to drive until the problem is resolved. Hopefully will be able to update this thread...
Followed this https://youtu.be/xX3qrdBEn-I but no success so far. Going to pull things apart again tomorrow to try and figure out what's what. Last time I checked, I verified power at all the...
Thanks.
I've checked out the original blower motor in the car and on the bench and it works with 12V applied. Ditto a second motor from a local scrapper. I have a new OEM resistor which I've tried...
Just bad luck that as the weather turned cold, the fan on my 04 XC70 stopped working. Everything else on the CCM is fine, all bulbs light up and all LED's work as well. Just no fan on either manual...
Saw this on another forum but didn't see it mentioned anywhere here:
"Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP"
As many of us...
Old thread I know, but here's my two cents:
You can use pretty much any scantool to check the MAF sensor on your car. There are YouTubes describing in detail. I had a bad MAF in a 2004 XC70 and...
I use a smear of conductive grease, or electrical contact grease, on bulbs and contacts. In my experience, it helps especially with rear lights.
How was your PCV system? Was it gummed up? I did mine recently and it was pretty bad but the intake manifold was evenly clean. However, my assistant commented on the #1 and #2 cylinder vale stems...
One easy way to get the broken nozzle out is to screw in a small wood screw, and, when it grabs, withdraw it with a pliers.
Side mirrors from 2003/4 - 2007 are interchangeable, I believe.
Not worthy of a response!
That's got to be one of the "most dumb & worthless" comments I've ever read on this site.
There isn't one on my MY04.
Congratulations on your new (to you) XC70.
As NTXC said below, the alarm message is usually to do with the battery failing in the alarm module which is under the fender liner in the passenger...
I think the old style has an o-ring as well but it's "contained" inside the fitting. If my memory serves .... it's a few years since I changed the fitting.
Heard this "chirping" sound from rear, passenger side. Observed that it was road speed related so drive train or hub related. Removed (with some difficulty) rotor/drum and immediately saw this.

I changed mine from the old to the new style a few years ago as I suspected a...
In my case, it was "CEM-1A5F Communication with BCM control module Signal missing" that pointed the electronic repair tech to the ABS module. The repair was CAD190 here in Toronto.
Not every condition causes a trouble code to be generated. A couple of years ago, I had a fuel pump issue that starved the engine and caused it to stutter and nearly stall occasionally. No codes at...
Plugs and coils would also be my first stop.
