Thanks, JRL.
3 years ago I moved from a place with a nice dry multi-level garage to a house near woods edge with a carport. Things rust quickly.
So, if I park it, by the time spring comes,...
It is far from being impeccably maintained, but it has been well enough maintained to never leave me stranded over the course of the 13-years long ownership while being my daily driver up until late...

I once had a bulb out in the front right corner. PIA to replace. If I remember correctly, it is too a "position bulb".
Sometimes filament in the bulb becomes detached on one side and is dangling causing intermittent behavior.
My car developed a new behavior over last couple years. I have not looked into it yet.
It starts fine when cold, no issues at all, ever (I hope I'm not jinxing it ;) )
It starts fine when hot.

In snow, snow tires is a GREAT improvement on ANY car, like night and day.
That said, being where I am, we typically only get a few snow days a year, and I cannot possiblly justify wearing snow...
The rule of thumb is to stay away from 01 and 02.
The reliability-wise they made somewhat of a leap in MY03 and then, generally speaking, improved ever year thereafter.
They are called reluctor rings by Volvo. Available separately from the shafts and are a glue-on.
Some shafts come with, others without.
Or the replacement axles came without the toothed rings on them.
My car has had slight fluttering at idle since it was brand spanking new.
At the time I was parking in a murky underground garage, where the lights would reflect from other cars, and the fluttering...
Off topic here. When did they start putting in plastic headlights?
Mine are glass, and I imagined Volvo was sticking with glass. Every time I was seeing an E class with headlights all fuzzed-up, I...
I replaced just the regulator at 170 kmiles. The bearings... they might or might not outlast the car.
Another thing, I saw a write-ups somewhere that describes replacing regulator without...
Why replace the whole assembly if there are individual pieces available...

Sounds like the needle agrees with the message, so it is probably not how the needle was put in...
hmm... not once, intentionally.
battery was disconnected twice over car's life - once for battery replacement (just for a few mins), and once for regulator replacement (that turned into a...
Owner's manual calls for 91 or better, which means premium, except for sunoco who sell 91 as Plus or something. Their highest octane is 95.
And be careful with the purchase. Unless you plan on...
Two dealers independently of each other told me I needed a new transmission.
A independent shop suggested new software - problem solved. 5 years now.
Simptoms were that the transmission rarely and...
are you sure it's draining rather than not charging (sufficiently)?
I had an occurrence (another car) when a new battery would last a week or two and then die, as it turned out, because one of the...
I started getting converter lockup related code when I had about 105 -110 kmiles on the odometer. Otherwise it was shifting fine.
Software upgrade took care of the issue.
The code was different...
Sounds like the issue is in the receiver. Removing and reinstalling the fuse gives it a reboot.
Check battery voltages, with the key out, and then with engine running.
Crap batteries make computers do funny things.
Whoa! That one clean engine! You should see mine... Combination of wading through mud pools and neglecting PCV for a period of time clearly left its artifacts.
