There are a number of XC70s left, but by now my guess is they are owned by enthusiasts who keep them pretty well sorted.
...sometimes the best way to solve a problem is a fresh look at it after a good night's sleep.
I am very glad you solved the issues.
Of course you can use the jumper you have, however your process may need to change.
Use the process outlined in the owner's manual: https://volvo.custhelp.com/app/manuals/OwnersManual/om_id/571...
On these cars, jump starting this way sends transient voltage spike thru ECM and usually fries it.
You can get a replacement ECM via Xemodex.
In the owner's manual you will find procedure...
...reminds me, it's soon time to change my CAFs.
...consider getting a used one from a wrecker, like erievovo.com (you will likely have to phone them) and tell them you want it so you can have it made locally. Then you can tell your favorite...
Perhaps next time.
I know this is an old thread but there was no answer. Ihave an answer, below.
The Volvo sealant is Elring "Klinger" - a Loctite rep should be able to crossreference it or you can use the xref...
As you know, halogen bulbs will fail very quickly if they get fingerprints or other oils stuck to the bulb envelope. Could it be your bulb died from handling? Consider taking the bulb out & check...
i noticed this wasn't answered.
Under the *hood* you will find a positive "power point" on/near the front fuse box.
Get a jump box, another car, or what have you - the objective is from the...
It depends.
First thing I'd do would be to try for a factory scanner w 2-way capability at a price that was not punishingly high.
Next in line - for a generic OBDII the ELM327 dongle with...
...I found the cloth tape in a few places - amazon, digi-key, McMaster-Carr. There is TESA wire loom tape and some alternatives.
I **finally** found the leak. Rear wheels off, the aluminum vapor piping near the fuel filler.
Sheesh.

Tips and advice: copy the numbers that are on the transmission (cell phone pictures will do if clear enough) then use those numbers to search car-part.com and to contact specialist Volvo recyclers...
Thanks, and I should be able to check that. I'll need to get/rent a smoke machine, I think. I wonder if this one would actually work:

An indie near me did that... replaced purge valve... code is back.
I'll be working on this further myself, it'll be a couple three weeks before I can get to it.
I wonder if VIDA has some troubleshooting details about codes with no CEL?
Based on what I've seen in this thread, I think you (we - my code's back also) are settling in for an afternoon checking...
I'll check this too, thanks.
some insights here: LINK
:) Thanks! I'll check the lines (including the one you mentioned) more carefully. I looked but did not poke or pinch.

I could use some help deducing a "small evap leak" on my XC70. I think I have eliminated the leak detection pump (it's a Bosch, 2 y.o.) and the gas cap. I figure either (a) it actually is the leak...
Does anyone think there may be a problem with the VVT? orvieto, did you re-set the codes after replacing the coils?
This one's easy. Other than the above, you say your car's in god shape. IMHO in this market you're not going to get a car in as good shape as yours (once repaired) for $4,000.
You can get these...
My car did this (about 170 K miles) it turned out to be the VVT gear. The center cam can leak. Because it is spinning it throws oil around and looks like a seal leak... but it's not... See...
