I have posted previously on this thread. Our '98 V70 XC is still driven every day and runs/drives flawlessly. Hasn't had so much as a hiccup during the last 2 years/20k miles. Bought it 14 years...
We use our '98 as a daily driver: gym, grocery store, etc and average 20-21 mpg. On the rare occasion that we drive on the interstate we get about 26 mpg.
The odo has 259,000 miles!
I had the same poor fuel mileage a few years ago on my '98. After swapping the MAF and O2 sensors without curing the problem, I finally traced the problem to the fuel rail damper. Bingo!
Hope this...
The sound you're hearing could be the DSTC cycling the brake solenoids in an effort to maintain traction/stability in slippery conditions. This can occur during both braking and acceleration.
On page 229 of the owners manual for my 2010 XC70: "With the ignition switch in the off position, but with the key in the slot, move the right -hand lever to the up position and hold for one second. ...
Try updating your phone to the 5.0.1 version of the operating system. As I recall, you can do this via a Wi-Fi connection and does not require syncing with your computer. 5.0.1 also allows you to...
I would like to offer another viewpoint based on my experiences during nearly 14 years of ownership of a 1998 V70XC. Please take with a grain of salt when statements are made such as "every ****...
Over the weekend I had my iPhone connected via the USB cable to the radio in my 2010 XC70 for the first time since updating to IOS 5.0.1. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the radio display now...
Dave,
That is a great set of illustrated instructions. I have always done my own oil changes, but with the oil/filter changes being done for free for the first 60K miles on my 2010 XC70, it will be...
We have a 2010 XC70 with 24k. Great car with zero issues. Love the Safe and Secure extended warranty. It's nice to not have to pay for the oil/filter change especially since it takes 7quarts of...
Try Erie Vovo. http://www.erievovo.com/
Yes, I bought this car 13 years ago last month and I couldn't be happier with it. I have never changed fluids in the bevel gear or the viscous coupler. I have had the transmission drained and...
I guess I'm just dumb or lucky, but FWIW my 1998 V70XC currently has 253,000 miles on the odometer and other than replacing the seal on the bevel gear several years ago and replacing the driveshaft...
Here is a link to Victor Rocha's instructions for removing the ABS/TRACs module. Victor does a great job repairing and upgrading the module....
Do you have the "shark fin" antenna on the rear of the roof? If so, that is the Sirius antenna.
The Sirius receiver installs behind the rear seat under the load floor. If your vehicle has the factory prep for Sirius, the antenna and fiber optic connections are there. After installing the...
I have the reversible cargo mat (non folding) in our 2010 XC70. It has very nice Berber type carpeting on one side and it looks very nice. It also helps to keep items from sliding around somewhat. ...
The tailgate latch on my 1998 V70 XC failed a couple of years ago. I crawled over the back seat and removed the strike on the floor by removing two Torx screws. This allowed me to open the tailgate...
We bought our 1998 V70XC in August of 1998 after our 1987 240 DL wagon (also purchased new) was "totaled" by the other driver's insurance company. Although the car was in great shape before the...
JR was so sure it wasn't the driveshaft. It must be nice to be blessed with such confidence in one's diagnostic skills to be able to provide a one word response: NO
Sounds like you need a new driveshaft.

I just loaded iOS 4.3 on to my 3G iPhone. I'm pleased to report that Apple has fixed the connectivity issues with the 2010 XC70 (and the other years and models, presumably). The Volvo audio system...
Maybe this schematic will show you what you need.
Good luck.
