Has anyone tried this from the top of the engine (removing the PCV box)?
Same thing with another post I just looked at on this site: It's odd that it was cured since that part number 36002689 is for the EXHAUST VVT but your code is for INTAKE (different solenoid than the...
That's odd because the intake VVT solenoid is not that one you replaced, that's the exhaust.
Heads up on this potentially common safety concern.
Seems absurd, all my Volvo’s from many years prior and double the mileage didn’t have this happen. Common?
Struts otherwise fine would be shame...
Good tip right there, thanks Skibo! It's practical "just the facts ma'am" advice such as this which really helps people.
Correction: the front piece is the prevent one. Sadly.
Ordered both pieces and getting ready to install. Turns out the front most piece arrives in coil shape and, fortunately, at least the rear one is pre-bent to the caliper. Presumably they do this...
How are you removing the rearmost horizontal bolt on the front of the driver's side LCA w/o lifting the engine for clearance?
Thanks all, appreciate the feedback on the slack. Expect the play in the system with 165k but it's that loud click I'm concerned about in the video.
Thanks Bill, was wondering if it's age/mileage typical wear thing. Does your shaft end rotate slightly relative to the tranny when doing this? I'm asking because if that's a sign of CV wear I'm...
Rocking car while in Park. Drive shaft is rotating a bit back and forth hard to tell since camera is on ground. Can feel the click vibration in shaft but sounds like coming from inside bell...
For my situation it appears to have been the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Easy to replace while I was replacing the starter (which also cured many many things).
Agree on the wire brush damage potential and appreciate the link to that site. Their tech looks amazing!
This! It's frustrating when you see this happen to people. I brought mine in for an inspection at a Volvo dealer once, it passed but they said they had to replace a headlight bulb (which wasn't out...
Not much to go on, best to grab some codes and see what you're dealing with. Can't say enough goodness about the iCarsoft 960 scanner, paid for itself first use for sure.
Just wanted to pass this on. Was looking for easiest method to drain and refill whole system. Was using the Turkey Baster Method and found it inefficient and cumbersome since the rubber bulb would...
Has anyone installed these?
Maybe go with the Sachs version?

Great feedback Bill. Also, I'd check for missing spring on calipers, can cause brake pad clunk as well.
Perhaps FCP's Sachs ones are better. 3000 miles is ridiculous, I'd send them back to FCP and get their take.
And? :)
All three times were new ones?
Turbo bearings aren't the kind of bearings you typically find in a car, or skateboard. They are more like sleeves that float on a film of your engine's oil, there are no ball bearings involved. ...
This was a great, and painful to witness, read! THANK YOU! I'm dealing with a very similar issue with my 2007, though seems to be related to boost as opposed to hard acceleration. In other words,...
Inner pad on front driver's side detached from plate. Plate ran on rotor for a few days apparently before wife alerted me to the "squeaking sound from the brakes and a bunch of rust colored dust all...
