25k miles on my AAmco rebuild. Cost $3400. now junk again. They want $2400. to fix it again. It was never adapted which I think lead to all the problems. Warrantee just expired.
Same here. $35. from junkyard.
Suddenly the car errupted in a bad idle when I got home yesterday. I thought it was either a vacuum leak or the MAF.
I first removed the MAF connector and the car runs again. So I thought it was the...
Suddenly one day the message box, odometer, temp and radio lights all became dim and hard to read. I can read them with night driving though. The rotating dial that dims them has no effect. Ideas?
Scorpions are fine, they are the other tire Volvo sends out on new cars. They will be fine in the snow it's the AWD that makes all the difference!
I live on the north shore and have the T6 XC70 2009. It's a great car but change the Continental tires to Michelin since the C's are noisy and we don't do allot of deep snow here that the M's...
What's up here. Is it the remote that is causing the car to become berserk? The four ways come on and the alarm flasher red thing goes nuts until I put the key in and turn it.
I've had 97 850 (loved) 01 xc70, 02xc70, 75 245DL, and now 09 xc70.
Order of best cars and scale of 1-10
850- 7.5
01xc70- 7.5 but with allot of forgiveness
02xc70- 6.5 same with less...
Two of my trusty advisers. I'm extremely careful with gasoline particularly where and when it's used. It's a fairly unpredictable liquid unless you have a perfect spark. You could technically put a...
When I did the breather box I cheated out by cleaning all the hoses and the box itself by filling it with gasoline and letting it set for a couple of hours. I then shook it up and cleaned it again...
Ok. I propose xc70 give out a monkey head award each year. I nominate myself for this one Howard. Ok before I took it to have the codes checked I reached under to the Throttle connection and it...
Thanks. I did determine the timing was correct and I feel better about all the anxiety I had over doing that. It runs fine at higher RPMS and basically idles very rough. I thought a vacuum leak. You...
I never disconnected the MAP sensor but I'm thinking that since I took a few days to do the breather and the injector manifold got moved around allot and not so carefully that I dislodged something...
My same thinking. I rechecked the timing marks and they were right on. The message now says Engine Service Urgent.
Ok Just finished the intake seal and set the timing belt back. It started right up and I took her for a ride. After about a mile or so the motor began to shake violently. Could it be something with...
I had the timing belt replaced at 220k so it only has 25k on it. Because it got pretty wet from oil but looks perfect still, should I still change it?
Thanks Jeremy. I cleaned the PCV breather system and put it all back together. It seems that the leak on the intake cam has stopped now. Is that possible? I already have the replacement seal, do you...
Howard, it turns out the oil was really coolant since they join there for some unknown reason. I had removed the tube coming from the thermostat and it came out. Not being versed in all this and also...
Yes, there is a spanner bar across the two ends of the rear. It has two protrusions that go into the cam end and lock into a slot holding the cams from moving.
Okay so I read allot about this project ahead of time so less surprises. What a PITA job. Really stupid design for something that needs service but I guess the engineers were forced to cram it all...
I'm doing the oil breather job now. The hose clamps that are put on with a special tool- 2 questions:
How do I get them off and can I just go back with a standard screw band clamp?
Thanks.
So once I lock the rear side of the camshafts and pull the timing and serp belt, will the crankcase pulley move too. Do I have to lock that or just simply mark it's position since I won't be pulling...
Thanks guys. Howard, the cam lock goes on the rear side of the cam shaft. I presume one pops off the round cap and the slotted shaft is right there waiting to be secured. Volvo didn't want this to be...
