wife locked in car - Help

actually she got out thru the passenger side. 99xc. I am out of town this is what she is experiencing

drivers door will not open - she can raise and lower the door lock, she can raise and lower the lock with the key, its just that the door will not open - ( I am assuming that the door is locked and the assembly in some way is not allowing it to open.

Any ideas?

Looks like a little plastic part came off the lock inside the door - I had to use a long power chisel to destroy the lock. Fun - Lock was 146.00
