Looks like there is a new recall affecting some of our wagons.
Put your VIN in here to check whether yours is affected: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
Mine was not affected, but apparently some 195000 are. Volvo said to notify owners in December.

Thanks for the link.
FWIW, my 2007 XC70 showed "0 Repair Recalls" after entering the VIN.
Just an update - at the time of my original posting, apparently the NHTSA database had not yet been populated with the affected wagons. Today, I received a written notice in the mail saying that my car was affected. Upon checking the NHTSA website, I found that my VIN is now listed as part of the recall. You may want to check the database now, too.
Just got notice on my 2004 V70R. Still waiting on my 2001 V70 T5, 2002 V70 T5 and 2002 V70XC.
I rec'd two letters in the mail yesterday for the airbag recall: for my 2002XC70 and my 2007XC70.
I'm thinking I'll wait until after the holidays when it's less busy to schedule an appt. I don't have a relationship with a Volvo dealership but It's supposed to only take an hour. I guess there's no reason for them to put the car on a lift or even open the hood so hopefully it'll be an in-and-out procedure.
I received the recall notice before Christmas and (supposedly) made an appointment for late January. I am going to call and verify part availability early next week.
I've received notices for all the cars. My local dealer has them in stock. I've got appointments over the next couple of weeks. I was told the only color is dark grey. So, for all the cars, it's going to be sort of a "two tone" look, but I can't complain, what other car company fixes 20 year old cars for free?
I had mine replaced yesterday. P/N 32332168
I left the car at the dealer for a couple of hours for the job.
Just to summarize the process: Call first and they will likely need to order a part for your car. My dealer had several in stock, but all were reserved. They ordered one for me and, a couple of days later, called me to confirm arrival. Then, I scheduled an appointment for the replacement.
The interior of my car is dark grey.
