The roads were very clear of traffic which made them nice to drive on and the road construction was on the whole finished. Unfortunately being in construction zones the speed was limited to 35 MPH with the speed fines doubled if caught speeding. Don't mind this if there are workers present but there were none in any of the construction zones so.......
Now the next batch of pictures.
Back on 95 south.

Coming into Yuma from the east. They seem to be planting new crops. First stop light we got to the windows opened up to enjoy some fresh desert air. What we got was a blast of hot humid air. Not expected in the desert. Found out that night that the humidity and the clouds were from a tropical storm that was skirting around Yuma up from the Gulf of California.

Next batch will be of the Hotel and some of the sights in Yuma.
-
I don't normally plug hotels but if you are going to be staying in the Yuma area this is a very very nice hotel. Not part of chain and so far as I know it is family owned. All of the rooms are courtyard facing. No public access to the hotel courtyard and you need your room key to get through the doors from the parking lot. So it is secure but the area is not in what I would consider close to being a bad part of town. Added bonus it is not expensive.

WOW!
We could just do with that Pool over here at the moment [thumbup] as we came into Morocco and the temperature went up to 24C while it also started raining and the Mosquitos came out to play on US! [nonono][nonono]
Within a few minutes my good lady was bitten 4 times on her fingers, while the Bug spray is going down fast.

The pool in Yuma was a great way to start relaxing on vacation. Warm temperatures and good weather. Even better no biting bugs.
Sorry to hear about your Mosquitoes. Hope that you loose them in a hurry
First morning in San Diego was spent wandering through Old Town San Diego. We went through the original old town area but driving out for lunch we saw that there was more to see outside of (south on public roadways) the older buildings. So we now have more to see next time we go there. One of the last shots will be up that road.

Saw this when we pulled into the parking lot. Of course it was not the first thing that we saw when we pulled in. The restaurant is on the left side of the picture under the trees.

What did catch our eye coming into the parking lot was this...

The USS Midway. Just outside shots as we did not have enough time to do a proper on board tour.

Life got busy this last week so there has been no time to update.
Until now.
So the next morning we are of to the Beach. La Jolla. Spent two or three hours wondering the beach and then headed out and drove around La Jolla with the ultimate aim of doing lunch at a Mexican restaurant that used to in Old Town San Diego. It is now more in the suburbs by a shopping mall. It is call Casa De Pico and it has very good food.
First the beach.

Random shots of the area after leaving the beach to get to the restaurant for lunch. Starting in the beach area and then working further out to the south and east.

Parked at the Mall for lunch.
We don't see this kind of thing at home in parking lots, the flowers not the building.

Next moring headed north to Monterey.
Went up Interstate 5 through Los Angeles then west through Hollister to Monterey. May not have been the most direct way but it was a route not traveled for a good number of years and I have wanted to go through Hollister for a while.

I like the Truck Runaway Ramp going off into the hills!
Over this side of the 'Pond' they tend to put them going downhill but on long beds of small stones which have a real slowing down effect on a runaway.
-
The run away ramp is on the I5 on the north end of the LA area. The mountains/hills here go up a good bit. I believe that the interstate here goes up to 4,000 feet and then down to the central valley of California which is at about 100 feet.
Most of the runaway ramps I have seen are graveled like yours but they try to make them go up hill. What I get a kick out of seeing on some ramps are no parking signs to try and stop people from parking in front of them. Makes you wonder about people.
