"Check Engine" light!
My check engine light came on last week.
The car seemed to drive none the different.
I sensed a misfire a couple of times while idling though.
Took it to my Indy mechanic who said it was throwing O2 and CAT codes.
He didn't have time to investigate further at that point. I'm booked in for Monday.
My friend said that if the engine isn't tuned correctly, mis-firing/running too rich it can mess with the O2 sensors and the CAT.
If only a tune-up is required would the vehicle have "thrown" different codes?
I fear I'm looking at big bucks to make good!!

It is possible is just worn out spark plugs. If they are old, change them. And re-test to see if the codes come back. Is common to have O2 & CAT codes due to misfires but trouble codes doesn't exactly pinpoint to that component failure.

I have the tuning kit that FCP Groton sells on Ebay. (Plugs, ht leads dis. cap and ign. rotor. I'll get them on before I take it to the garage. My XC is a 98 with 99k. I haven't checked the main. sched. to see if the plugs have to be replaced.
Cheers!

if you can post the actual codes, that would also be helpful.

Sorry didn't get the codes at the time.
Changed the plugs, leads etc. I've done about 70 miles and the CEL has not came back on. Hope this has sorted the problem!
