I have this trouble code and I searched for it and it just says small evap leak. How does one know if there is a crack in one of the tubes that runs all the way back to the gas tank? Do you have to do the smoke test from the dealer? I have noticed that when I get gas, there is no pressure when I take the cap off. I was thinking there was a crack in the filler hose, but maybe it's one of the recirculating lines that ties in with the charcoal/evap canister? Thanks for any help!

I have the same trouble with the code. The dealer narrowed it down to the J-hose at the charcoal canister. I finally:mad: found the canister above the rear differential, but I can't figure out how I might swap the J-hose which attaches to it?
Anybody changed one?
Is there access from inside the car (like for a fuel pump)... or do I have to drop the tank?

You have to drop the tank to get to the J hose.
I had a similar situation but it turned out to be my MAFS, not saying you're situation is the same as mine.
However, I strongly suggest you replace all of your vacuum lines ( I personally like the silicone hoses), along with the gas cap and then clear code to see if it comes back.

I already replaced the MAF sensor when it threw a different code. And, I have a new gas cap with a good o-ring. I've also cleared this code a couple of times... it just comes right back in a day or so..
My wife took the car in for service some time ago and the dealer said the hose was bad. I don't know what test (smoke? pressure?) they did to confirm it was that particular hose, but what little bit of the hose I 'can' see from under the car (flashlight, yes... lift, no), it looks pretty bad.
How hard is it to drop the tank?
(Note: I'm not above cutting a hole in the floor of the back deck to get at the canister! I've already done much worse things to this poor car. And, I'm not a quitter - haha. [cool2])

You need a very quiet environment (nighttime), but the easiest way to find any vacuum leak is to run the engine a very short time (10 secs) to build up vacuum, then turn everything off. Then, just use your ears....listen for a hiss. For finding engine vacuum leaks, the old airplane (pre-electronic) earphones make a great stethoscope probe. You can buy a mechanic's stethoscope cheap.
