  1. The 2.5 is the most solid of all the platforms. Make sure it was serviced regular and check its history for repairs. If you live in a snowy region the rear wheel bearings on any xc90 can go bad, but are not bad to replace.

I have only heard of a single 2.5T that had a transmission issue, and havent heard of any engine issues. All xc90's seem to wear tires, stay away from sport tires and they last much better. I am looking at the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza, not good in snow areas but we dont have that problem in Texas.

Hey fellow Greek! Husband and I are thinking about buying a 2005 xc90 2.5T AWD since after much research it seems they are the only suitable models we can afford. We will be purchasing one from auction with no more than 90,000 miles on it since that is what we can afford. Please be honest, should we do it? I am so scared to buy a volvo but I am obsessed with these xc90's! My husband wants to make me happy, but also thinks we should go for a Pilot or 4Runner. I don't want to make a big bad stupid mistake. You seem so knowledgable about the model I want. After all, Greeks do know everything! I am being serious. Really, we do. Thanks in advance. We can't wait to hear from you!
