    Hello again,
Doesn't look like I can send a pic on this message so will post one on the forum.
Is this the valve-body code you talked of?
I am hopeful because the number happens to be the same on both transmissions.
Am I in luck? Can I put the rebuilt valve-body on the other tranny?
  2. Fraser - there are a couple of threads on this...I haven't had it happen...but broken wires in the tailgate hinge cause it to remain locked...i would search the threads to see what other guys have done...I remember reading about it...but not how they fixed it... Cheers,

hey you have helped me before, I really appreciated it. I did end up getting our transmission rebuilt. But since we got it back we are getting these codes P0340 and P0343 for camshaft sensor and cam circuit relay malfunction. I cleaned the cam solenoid, however I know this will not work if the solenoid is bad, but I tried it anyway. We think it is more along the lines of the actual cam sensor. Our problem is since we have an 01 XC70 it is different then the early 90's version and we can't seem to find anyone who knows where the cam sensor is located. I know what the new part looks like, but I can't find the part on the Volvo we have. I also suspect that when they took and hooked the transmission back up that they may have not connected the cam sensor all the way or not at all. If not, I am going to try cleaning the sensor and if still no luck I was thinking of buying a new one and installing myself. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Glad it worked! I have had the same problem and now, I can't remember exactly how I fixed it...but the description of the mechanism: inertial lock, etc. gives you a clue...

    Cheers,

Thank you Astro 14. I put everything back together and slammed the seat back in place a few times then went into the house. The next day I drove the car into town and came home and tried the belt. VIOLA!! The clouds parted, the sun came out and the belt worked.I learned that I did not need to take apart anything. And two different dealers are out my $$ and my respect. tnx again
