6-SPEED MANUAL NOW AVAILABLE WITH D5 ENGINE FOR
VOLVO XC90, XC70 AND V70 AWD
• 6-speed manual available with D5 XC90, XC70 and V70 D5 AWD
• Lower emissions: between 9.5% to 12.3% lower, saving up to £1050 per annum in tax for company car drivers (UK)
• Fuel economy improved by between 9.6% and 13.5% on Combined cycle
The versatility of All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Volvo's acclaimed D5 turbo-diesel engine are now available with the added flexibility of Volvo’s new six-speed manual gearbox in the XC90, XC70 and V70 AWD. This combination offers a lower price and emissions, with improved fuel economy and performance for those who prefer a manual gearchange.
Volvo's 2.4-litre, five-cylinder, D5 turbo-diesel engine is already the most popular choice of engine for the XC90, XC70 and V70 AWD models, but until now has been available exclusively with 'Geartronic2' transmission.
Compared to the same models with the Geartronic transmission, the six-speed manual gearbox offers fuel economy savings of between 9.6, 12.0 and a maximum of 13.5 per cent for the XC90, XC70 and V70 AWD respectively.
Similarly, with emissions reduced by 9.5, 10.6 and 12.3 per cent for the XC90, XC70 and V70 AWD respectively, the new manual gearbox/D5 diesel engine combination also spells lower Benefit in Kind tax bills for company motorists.
For instance, a 22% and 40% UK tax payer who chooses the manual XC90 diesel D5 S ahead of the Geartronic will save £96 or £175 per year, while a V70 AWD D5 S driver will reduce their annual tax bill by £578 or £1050. An XC70 AWD SE driver will save £573 or £1041.
