removing front vents in 03 XC70

Anyone know how easy/difficult it is to remove the center vents on an '03 XC70?I'm trying to isolate a "dash crack" kind of noise when the heat comes on and I go over a bump...it only occurs 1st thing when the cars been cold

Why not have the dealership take care of this?  Leave the car with them overnight and specify the steps necessary to create the sound so that they can reproduce it.
