Saw the trailer for next week's Desparate Housewives episode and I'll be darned if I didn't see a brand new 2008 XC70 in one of the scenes.

My wife, who's much more up to date on these sorts of things, said that Terri Hatcher's character was recently in a car accident, and that this must be her new car.

If they haven't done so already, I wonder if they're just going to make it part of the storyline or just work it into the set... Might be worth a watch to see!

My wife also watches Desparate Housewives and reports that the accident was an earlier XC70 flying into a pond....

I was aghast when I watched Susan's XC70 take a swan dive into a pond. Maybe she can borrow Brea's husbands C70 convertible while her XC70 dries out. Anyway will be looking forward to see what Susan is driving next. I believe prior to her XC70 she was driving an XC90.

Tonight's episode showed Terri Hatcher in her oyster grey XC70 battling a Lexus RX330 for a parking spot. :D

I also watched last night's episode and noticed that Susan appears to have obtained a 2008 XC70 to replace the one that went into the pond. I believe that the lava sand color is not being offered in 2008 and was wondering if the color I saw last night was indeed the oyster grey.

I often wonder how car makers put together the eary production runs of a new model. The 2008 model XC70's are showing up at auto shows and now television spots. Are the 2008's now in production or did Volvo make a limited number of these new models on a small scale while still producing the remainder of the allocation for the 2007 model year?

I also noticed from the attached pictures of the XC70 going into the pond that on the road one sees the bright roof rails, yet the pictures of the car going into the pond show what appears to be the black roof rails, which would indicate a model year prior to 2005. Did they use an older XC70 as a stunt double for the actual swan dive?

I think they are the same car - the front of the car in the road shots is definitely pre-'05. Probably just the angle and the lighting that makes the rails look 'shiny' in the road shot.

I've seen the current model xc in desperate housewives before, when some other shows on FOX were cancelled .
But i think the whole thing with the XC being driven into a pond, was a publicity stunt by volvo, as some kind of campaign for the all new xc.

In the last episode she DEFINITELY was driving a NEW (08) XC
Only saw the rear quarter in her driveway

It amazes me that Volvo would go to the extreme of providing the 2008 model instead of the current 2007. In one case in which the consumer is extremely observant if the product placement worked and the consumer went to a Volvo dealer, they would not find what they saw on TV (until this summer at least). Those consumers who are not that knowledgeable about model year changes, would not know the difference between a 2008 and 2007 XC70.

True, but I'll bet there will be a few more better shots during the rest of this season as there ARE Volvo owners who can and WILL know the difference
The XC will be available late August, early Sept.
The new season will start no less than a month AFTER.
Product placement is very important and a very common practice in Movies and TV

I have done a lot of product placemant for volvo (including swimming! ;-) on my website (www.xc-fan.de) - I think itīs now time for volvo to send my a payment (but I donīt try to ask ;-) ;-)

Anyway -> Does anyone have the scene (XC70 trys to swim) in MPEG? ;-)

Greetings out of Germany
Torsten - the XC-Fan (and paid a lot of EUROs for the knowledge, that a XC70 is far, far away from something to have fun with driving offroad ;-)

Gale Harold will be returning to Desperate Housewives (http://www.dvdcollects.com/products/Desperate-Housewives-Seasons-1-4-DVD-Boxset-DVDS-1472.html) in May.
Harold(Queer As Folk (http://www.dvdcollects.com/products/Queer-As-Folk-Seasons-1-5-DVD-Boxset-DVDS-1471.html))'s Jackson Braddock will resurface in the May 3 episode, and sources are describing his stay on Wisteria Lane as lasting through the end of the season. The housepainter and love interest to Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) has already appeared in 11 episodes. His run as Jackson was cut unexpectedly short when the actor had a serious motorcycle accident in October.
