Hi,

I am interested in replacing a lost fob for an '05 XC70. I tried using the "search" function for the site with the combination of words "key", "fob" , "replacement" and was told that "key" and "fob" were excluded for being too short or common. Pretty useless search tool. Anyway, I'm sure buying from a dealer and getting it reprogrammed will cost a whole lot (>$300?). Any ideas on reducing this cost? Fobs can be purchased on ebay, no doubt, but still have to be programmed by the dealer, is this correct? Any good ideas?

Programming by the dealer is correct. $300 seems steep. You still should another key fob plus the valet key....

We have a keyfob from a 2003 XC90 that we have no use for, if you find that it will work I will be happy to send it to you. This is not a switch blade keyfob.

Bensmom243,

Thanks for your generous offer. I think for now I'll try to replace my lost fob with the original switchblade type, but I'll keep your offer in mind. Thanks again.
