These are some of a few hundred images I took at a Motor Vehicle Collision with Overturn and Entrapment. The entrapped civilian was extricated from the Volvo by civilians prior to PG County Fire Department arrival. The Subaru had a small engine compartment fire that was contained by a hand line. I do not know the year of the Volvo but I can guess late 1980's to very early 1990's.

I look forward to your comments and feedback. Also if anyone knows of a publication or Mag that would like to use these images let me know.
More images will be posted into my Public Safety gallery in the next few days.

Would be interesting to know what led to the accident.

Ok, I am not an accident or collision reconstructionist… but it looks like the Volvo was sitting in the center median in horizontally or was crossing the 4 lane roadway attempting to get to the center median when it was struck on the drivers side A-post / front wheel well causing it to overturn and go on its side. The tire tracks in the grass prove the direction of the STI as well as proving it went over the concrete / grass median… that’s what probably removed the passenger side undercarriage.

Prom night, 1982.

Six of us in my Mom's 1980 Olds were rear ended by a 1979 Honda Civic. We drove on to dinner, the Honda driver went to the hospital, and his car was hauled off as junk.

There's just something about mass...

As I know Honda's are really not that tough when it comes to body structures. They said that it's just like a tin can compared to other models like Mitsubishi, Toyota and especially Volvo. (Don't have anything against Honda..)..

Anyways, are those the real images of the vehicle?

:D

my dad rolled a 2004 civic, hit ice slid into snowbank the plows had created at the side of the highway, rolled right over onto the roof all at about 80-100kmh. he unclipped his belt, dropped down, opened the door and walked out. oh yeah, he hat to shut the car off, it was still running. he was at work 1hr late.

the roof didnt collapse, was very much in tact. when I seen the car at the yard at the bodyshop it wasnt all that bad. it did get written off.

80-100kmh??? I call BS!!!!! The Honda would be totally crushed at half that speed.

Hondas are some of the toughest vehicles out there. Go compare their safety ratings from the US and EEC. You'll be surprised!

And yes I have a XC and a Honda Pilot. Judging by some of the pictures posted by members at www.hondapilot.org after their Pilot got whack its a very solid tank.

One recent poster was driving an Accord when rear ended by a pick up (which left the scene) he was flipped but crawled out unscathed.

His jeans needed a wash after that. His underwear to I suspect!
