battery on my v70xc (02)

so I drained my battery today to the point where the car didnt start. just a clicking sound in the engine.

i had left the DRL/Parkinglights on when i parked at 6am then cut them at 6pm but didnt try to start the car till 10:30pm

should those not have cut off auto to conserve power?


Then when my buddy and I tried to jump the car... I knew where the Postive contact was but I couldnt find a good ground spot. I assumed the strut bar would do it but it didnt. any future ideas?

Oh yeah, if light switch was in full on positoin, all lights should have gone out when ignition switch was turned full off. Not sure about parking light position; never tried it.
