Door safety lights - gone when?

Just an info question: I was surprised to find that the red safety lights on the edges of the passenger doors have disappeared on our '07, and I'm curious when this happened? It is our 11th Volvo, and the first without the lights. So far, I find myself thinking about them whenever I am opening the door on a dark street with cars going by.

This feature never made it onto the P2 Volvos... What a shame. :confused:
I had to install red reflectors as a DIY pjt. :o

neither our 01 nor our 05 had/have them

I just bought some 3m red scotchlight tape and put it on the inside of the door and the tailgate. If you do a clean job it almost looks oem/factory.

Volvos stop using the triangles since the 1994-models. Then started using the safety light, now from 2001- NOTHING. It's like they want the door to be knocked off. I got some reflectors on it for insurance.
