IAQS not working?

I can  smell gas fumes from the cars in front when stuck at traffic light or in heavy traffic on my IAQS-equipped XC70 with the airflow set on AUT. I thought IAQS should automatically detect pollutants, close air flow from outside and re-circulate air...

You are right, it is supposed to.  Maybe it isn't that sensitive?  Or, maybe your filter is shot?

Also, I think that I've heard that if you hold down the air flow button for several seconds, it can turn this feature off.  I could be totally wrong about that, though.
