Has anyone fitted the BSR PPC engine management power upgrade?

I am thinking of buying one and would like to have some feedback.

I searched the forum and there is no other thread dealing with the subject.

I'm very satisfied with PPC. Check this forum for comments on their product.

I took the plunge last August and I don't regret it at all. The increase in power it good between 0-100 km/h but the gain is more apparent in the 80-130 km/h range. No noticable change in fuel consumption.

Easy to install and uninstall whenever you need, for example before and after dealer services the car. You can also get updates over the Internet from BSR.

The only drawback I can see is that it is stuck to the car: if you buy another Volvo, you'll have to buy another PPC. :(

It may be a little expensive, but worth it IMHO. [thumbup]

Raynald could you please provide any pic’s how does it looks like under your hood?

There's nothing to be seen under the hood. "PPC" stands for Portable Program Carrier and is a hand held tuning system that allows your cars ECU (Electronic Control Unit) to be reprogrammed with tuning software of your choice without any mechanical modifications. Just plug it in your XC OBDII connector (http://www.bsr-sweden.com/products//4/). You don’t even have to pop the hood.

More info at BSR of Sweden (http://www.bsr-sweden.com/).

I installed the BSR PPC on my MY05 XC70 Geartronic and the difference is quite noticeable. Just wished that my XC is a 6 spd manual! Caution: just don't the expexct the 0-100 kmh rush of a WRX and you won't be disapointed. The XC70 being a bigger and heavier vehicle. The increase in torque from 320NM to 410NM is the deal clincher!

I've heard of possible transmission conflicts/issues with earlier MY02 Geartrinic vehicles and I presumed that the MY05 facelifts fixed most of the transmission issues that plagued the XC70s so badly. I have not heard of any BSR PPC issues on manual vehicles. It might be pricey but the extra grunt is well worth it. The contact person from Partsforvolvosonline.co.uk is Clive and he is a very helpful and resourceful chap(needless to say that I've bought a few bits from him).

By the way, the OBDII connector is inside the cabin right next to the steering wheel under your ignition switch in a black fuse-box type of flap (for RHD vehicles that is!).

All the best and good luck!

I think the car should have a USB jack so you can program it right from your PC with free software available from Volvo.
