Hi all, Just a simple question. Any one knows what is the widest tire that the XC90 can be fitted  ? I am looking at either 255/60 17, or 255/55 18.

265/45 ZR 20 (5 x 108) - one of good choice!!! or go to R 22

from what I've seen, the widest tire that will fit the XC90 is 295/40/20 (I think that will work for 22" as well).

one example:

Good luck!

I am looking to get some 20 inch wheels for my XC90 also.
Only question I have :

Doesnt 20 inch wheels give problems when turning sharply?
I mean, is the rubber not "rubbing" the car (front wheels) when turning?

I hate to put on turning limiters cuz it will give the car a very large turning cirkel.

I put 275/45/20 on my 2004 t6 at 25,500 . 5000 mile ago and I have no rub issues. Ride is a little harsher than before over uneven pavement . Over smooth roads it actually rides smoother and quieter on the highway. I put on Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G052and TSW wheels ( Zandorvoot style wheels). Got them and the wheels at Discount Tire (total @ $1975). They were great, balanced perfect this co only sells tires they do not change oil, alignments or anything else. I am very picky and very skeptical of a co called discount tire but they have the best equpment for installing tires and wheels. The xc90 looks a lot better.
Downside the bigger wheels may wear the brakes out faster due to the extra unsprung weight and gas mileage has gone down but it maybe the computer is not calculating it exact because the speedo is off a little.

I had to replace front pads and dealer said rotors too at 28,000 miles ( I am still wondering if the rotors had to go).

Would I do it over ,Absolutely.

Good luck.

Hi - just a thought but what do you do for a spare? Will a 20" (with its associated extra width) be accomodated by the spare tyre holding facility?

This will be the next "my milage sucks" thread with the added drag of the larger tires.. :)
