I have a 2005 XC70, and they seem to have gotten better through the years from what I've read here. Is it because they're close to the end of this model run? Would the new model run coming soon have the same "teething pains" as the current one or has technology and production methods changed that? What year has proven to be the most trouble-free so far?

Thanks.

Not to sound negative, but the first few years of any cars have problems. Even new models like the XC90 had problems their first year. The front end (suspention, steering mostly) was redesigned after the first year because it was not beefy enough for such a big vehicle. (My friend who had problems with his had his front end components replaced, and Volvo explained that the replacement parts would not fail the same way since they are the same ones found in later year models)

I assume they will all have their quirks, but I assume an 03+ with the newer Haldex and ECM is your best bet.

I love my 01 though!
