Our 2000 V70xc comes home from work (with my wife in the captain's seat) and into the garage for a well-deserved nightly rest. Typically, once the engine is turned off, the cooling fans come on for a short period.
Lately, I've noticed that the cooling fans are not coming on at all. I smell a "hot engine/hot electronics" smell shortly after my wife has arrived and the car has been sitting for a while.
I tested the 30A cooling fan fuses and they are fine. The problem could be the cooling fan relay or the coolant temp sensor.
In my 85 Porsche, it was rather easy to jumper the coolant temp sensor installed in the radiator to see if the fan and fan relay were working. How do I do this on a Volvo? Did someone mention that there is a recall on the fan assembly for this car?
Thanks!
