Fastest CEL?

Under three days of driving, approx 100 total miles, first CEL.

I had to go to the dealer anyway to pick up my last accessory and they checked it. He says the pump which samples the evap emissions (gas cap, tank, etc) for leaks isn't talking to the computer, that they have seen this on 05's and that maybe they are still using the same batch of parts. Will replace that pump when I bring it in.

Anybody else heard of this?

I had the same thing on my 2006XC, but it was after about 250M of driving in 2 days. CEL went on, went to the dealer and they reset it. Said it was a valve read low "evap" something, which I took to be in the same system you are talking about. If it happens again I'll be sure to make them replace the pump.

Volvo says software not pump! Why would an absolutely new car need an ECM software upgrade, especially this many years into the life of this car? No charge, free loaner -- of course.

Maybe this, from various parts of the invoice, would be useful to others, although I'm not sure which number is which:

If the purge valve (pump) is working properly, the PCM (ECM) needs a software update and dealer needs to turn off the MIL (CEL).
