I have a 2005 xc70
recently I find the top section of tail lights (LED-part) doesn't light up, is there a problem because I can't find any malfunction message on the instrument panel or is it normal?

There are no lights in the top of your rear light section, this is a reflective area only, so nothing wrong with your car. You can check this out by looking behind the paanels in the rear section of the interior, if there is a flap/door there, then you know that a light should be working, have a look and see.

SKM,

Fear not, your XC is in good shape.

The very top section of the tail light does not light up.
Only the Reverse lights in the clear housing lights up in the top section

Also the only L.E.D in the XC70's tail lights are on the bottom side cornier.
Which I believe are only available in newer XC70's like yours (MY2006 up).... :D

Thanks for the heads up! Never knew the newer XC70 have some LED tails.

But I think what he meant was the 3rd brake light??
