I have searched the forum, and found this thread related to speaker buzzing.

My problem isn't due to a cell phone, rather I think the metal cover (right rear passenger door) is just rattling when low base sounds are played. This is particularly noticeable on talk radio when there aren’t a whole lot of other sounds to drown-out the buzz.

I've sat in the back and determined I can stop the noise by applying pressure to the metal speaker cover. My question is, can anyone tell me how to remove this speaker cover so that I might figure a way to reinstall it with some padding of some kind? I hate to just start pulling on the cover as I inevitably break little plastic clips when I try to remove interior covers without proper instructions.

Thanks in advance.

The door speaker covers are rivetted on to the door panel itself and can only be removed by drilling them out.

There have been reports of rattling/noise caused by poor bonding of the door panel insert (baffle). It required a method of hot glueing the mating surface of the door panel and the insert in the places where the insert had come loose.

Just a thought. There are several plastic clips that hold the panel to the door frame. Is it possible that one or more of these clips have worked loose? You could always try to remove and reinsert the clips closest to the speaker cover.

I've not pulled a door panel on my Volvo, but I see there's something in the resources section about it.

Will I need a Bojo tool to keep from breaking any plastic clips? My plan would be to get the door panel off then stifle the vibration of the metal speaker cover from there with some adhesive of some sort.

Not at all. After you push the center of each clip in, it’s just a matter of working it loose and pulling it out by simply using your finger tips.

You can also follow this link (http://www.volvoxc.com/volvo_photo_gallery/thumbnails.php?album=106) to some photos that might be of help. :)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I think I'll order some of those cool blue tools any how, they look like they will come in handy!

Once again, volvoxc.com to the rescue!

If you do happen to order a kit directly from Bojo Tools (http://www.bojoinc.com/products.html), it certainly wouldn’t hurt to ask them if they would offer you a discount considering your member affiliation with volvoXC.com. :)
