Unfortunately I was involved in a head tail collision, I was the last car...

The front of my beauty is damaged heavily. The car in front of me was a big jeep, high on his wheels so I drove under it.

The hood, bumper, lights, radiator and engine is hit..

I hope the dealer will repair it as new..

Sorry to hear about your accident. It is always a great disappointment to have a vehicle(or other possession) that one really cares about get destroyed.

Sometimes it makes me think I should go back to buying $500 "junkers", and that way one is never upset when it gets damaged ;)

In fact, we are on our second Honda Pilot right now, because of a wreck. We only had our first Pilot for 7 months in 2004, when an errant Ford Expedition decided to lose control in SoCal and hit us broadside at 70mph... right in the passenger door. ...instant totalled out car, and I had just put a bunch of OEM accessories on it to boot! :(

Ah well, at least no one was hurt, not even in the Ford and Porsche he also hit, both of which flipped over.

And the Honda did it's job! We were suitably impressed and bought another!

I am sure he can do a really good job, just have your €€€€€'s handy.

Sorry about the prang, never seems the same again. Keep us posted with photos and costs.

GVD (in my best Dutch) Theo! Psychologically, the car never seems to feel the same after a hit, but it sounds that your AWD has not been affected. Assuming the AWD is unharmed, body shops do an amazing job of righting the damaged bits and pieces. I would be optimistic that all will be restored to its former glory.

The car is back again and looks like new.
I only think that they mounted the scid plate in a wrong way. What do you think???

Hi Theo:

Glad to hear that your XC is back as new. ;)
Your front skid plate looks like it's mounted correctly, it's exactly
like mine.

when you look closely you can see on the right side at the top of the plate a gap (space) between the bumper and the plate.

In the next picture there is no gap....

The plate is not mounted over the edge of the bumper (the middle section)

Theo,

Mine looks similar in that there is a slight gap, albeit even, on both sides of the plate. I suspect the double sided adhesive tape that they use to augment the two screws, is losing its grip.

BTW, glad to hear your back on the road. :)

Mine looks exactly the same. Dont feel bad thats the way they "fit". The good news is it looks good as new !

Oke, but I'm still thinking it's not good.

Will you please look at the next (new and clearer)picture "before and after"

before and after (http://www.theleco.freeler.nl/volvo voor en na.JPG)

I see what you mean. Origianlly your front DID fit better. Take it back show them a new one on the lot that fits like your car did when it was new and tell them you expect it to fit the same. Or you could just shown them the befoer and after pictures.

Good luck,

George

p.s. dont let them use the "thats just slight variation we cant control" line
Cant control on car this expensive?!

I see wht you mean, I wouldn't be happy with the way the skid plte was mounted either. Show them the pictures, or another car on the lot maybe in for repairs or something? Good luck!

When you look closer at the last picture (before and after) you can also see that the space between the left side of the bumper and the left fender is bigger then before (plastic part)..
