I had my Volvo dealer install the Volvo iPod adapter in my 2005 XC70 with NAV system. It worked great for about a month. One night I had to drive with the iPod playing and the NAV system in Dark mode. Everything worked fine. In the morning, with the iPod connected, I reset the NAV to Bright mode and immediately the CD changer text in the radio display changed to CD Error and once a CD or FM button was pressed it was gone forever. I reset the iPod, disconnected/reconnected to no avail.
I had the dealer replace the iPod adapter and it worked fine again for a few days until the same setup occurred, used the car at night with iPod and Dark mode on the NAV. In the morning, changed back to Bright mode and CD Error was back with a dead adapter.
Has anyone else run into this problem? It would seem that there is a power spike or something lethal when the NAV changes back to Bright Mode.
