Just wondering what to look for before the car hits 50?

See this post (http://www.v70xc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=50566&posted=1#post50566) , this post (http://www.v70xc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6272) , and this post (http://www.v70xc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5872) for details of problems/solutions to date.

Simple really, try looking for a buyer!

2001 manufactured machines are past their sell buy date, just hope that the potential buyer is not a regular member of this forum.

Regards and good luck

Doubtful, as we just picked it up this past October or so.

What makes you declare this so-called "sell buy date" (sell-by date?) anyhow?

Greetings o' Yeti person type,

Have a look at my recent post. Still convinced? Absolutely no regret over selling. Compared to my new V70 D5, my old V70CX was by the time I sold it a total bag of ****. I my go for a 2006 XC70, but only on 12 months contract hire. Cost in UK for a fully loaded XC70 D5 185bhp is £389/month for 12 month 24,000 mile contract - beat that!

PS sorry about the spelling on previous post, that's what a week on the Prairies does to you! (hauntingly beautiful this time of year)

After reading the post " Should I sell it??? (http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6416) ", I am wondering what else to look at.

They mention there the following:
throttle body
sway bars
motor mounts
brakes
transmission
tires
radiator
brake booster
air flow sensor
rear axle bearing
front lower arm with bushings
front strut seat mounts
ABS module
steering pump failed

Of these, I've already addressed:
sway bar end links
brakes
tires (well, the end of the summer)
front lower arm with bushings
front strut seat mounts and struts (all under warranty)

I think I'll stick it out with the 2001.

What experiences have people had with radiator or transmission going south? Any problems with modules, bearings, sensors, steering, or throttle body? By this, I mean any widespread issues, or is this just a basic take what comes type of thing you see with older cars?

My tranny at 40k miles is "flaring".

According to most, a VADIS update will solve it.

Very interesting re the contract hire Roj. Is this generally available from most dealers? Hadn't really thought of it before.

Stuart,

Sorry, but nearly missed your thread. I'm using one of these new fangled "gooseberry" machines.

Try looking at www.arrowhire.co.uk and www.acornfinance.com

My current V70 is from the former and I am extremely pleased.

I have just put in an order for an XC70 D5 185hp today from the latter.
Get rid after 12 months, no worries about longevity.

Seems like Volvo UK needs to keep its registration figures up!

Happy hunting

My dealer said they did all computer updates everytime they service it and also when they sold it to me.

Why sell the car when it hits 50? Volvo last long, unless you don't like high mileage cars.
