First D5 - 185hp tests

It seems that the first 2006 D5 models (with an upgraded 185hp engine) are ready for test drives. Two links (both in Dutch, though)

The consensus is: very fast, very smooth, very nice sound. Doesn't feel like a diesel anymore. Reminds of the 6-in-line BMW diesels (now that's a reference!)

The first generation D5 was a great success. It looks like Volvo did it again!

The specs of the new diesel are impressive. To me, the fact that Volvo has succeeded in reducing the emission of soot particles by 95% is more important than the higher torque/power figures. IMHO, engines (both diesels and gasolines) are now powerful enough to start reducing smaller ones, the environment would benefit!
