Just a short post to report my observed fuel economy with and without a roofbox for anyone who may be interested:
Having travelled down to the Alps over Easter with the roofbox, I have compared the results with an earlier trip without the box. Interestingly, the economy is hardly affected at UK motorway speeds and is only slightly worse on the Continent.
70mph (approx 110kph) UK motorway (average over 330 miles outbound/inbound): 31.5mpg w/o box, 30.9mpg with.
130kph French motorway: 28+mpg w/o box, 26+mpg with.
N.B. XC90 D5 Geartronic.
