XC70 e code headlight upgrade

I am picking up my 2002 XC70 from the dealer this week (metallic red with taupe interior ) and was wondering if there is any difference between european halogen and DOT headlamps.

I'm also considering ebaying the US xenon lights on Dad's 2005 v70R and replacing them with regular halogen since they stink!

Thoughts or knowledge on either of these ideas? I will be be buying some of the osram +50% bulbs from powerbulbs.co.uk

If you search around on this site, you will find a lot of discussion about the xenon headlights. Nobody likes them as they come from the factory. However, if you crank the little white 6mm hex adjuster nut on top of the assembly, you can pull the beam upwards and it makes quite a difference. I have the xenons and like them now.

I think that switching them will be a bucket of worms, since the two types use different DRL strategies.

Dealer re-adjusted my xenon lights and they are superior to my volvo 94 halogen lights--

Gibbons, you mention a 6mm hex, do have a picture of this, i have looked in here and only see a lot of stuff. I asked my dealer at the 12km checkup and he (service advisor) said the compuer controls these and adjusts the beam as the car is loaded and unloaded (Ie trailer or full car) and that the computer would not allow them aimed up. Right now these lights have slowed my night driving way down, especially with a trailer, i think they are over compensating.

Awesome, i will let you know howit works i assumer the horizonatl knob adjusts the up down

You are talking about changing bulbs if it is so easy but as far I can see it almost impossible to change your headlights bulbs your self with the XC70 2005. My dealer told me that first you have to remove the whole head light unit?????????
Maybe somebody can give some advice how to do the job

once the dealer adjusted (raised) our Xenons, they're awesome...

As I know, you have some clips on the back of your My05 headlight, and can pull the unit out to easily reach it's back.

Does anyone have any idea how some of these dealers are adjusting these, mine says it is all computerized and can not ne done?
