I bought a xc70 d5 summum. Standard it is equipped with a petrol heater, so you can start the day in a warm car. Does anyone know if it is possible to extend the system with a remote control.

Yes, there is a remote control unit available. It’s a retrofitted accessory (it's in the Volvo accessory brochure). It consists of a sender and a receiver that interacts with the AEM module (standard on a MY05, at least in The Netherlands). I recommend both the petrol heater (BTW mine burns diesel) and the remote control.

You are right i didn't response, sorry. It was because what you said is in my opinion not right. I 'm now driving a s60 which is equipped whit the preheater and teh remotecontrol. Both were in the catalogue. The 2005 XC70 summum is standard equipped with the preheater, but there is no remote control in the catalogue. I asked the Volvo dealer and they told me that it can be installed for the amount of € 1.100, for a remote control!!!!!! they are crazy. So if you have the solution, let me know BTW i also have the d5.

Cooperone,

I have a 2004 XC70 D5, also equipped with a diesel preheater. Last week I asked the same question at my local dealership. After a thorough checking of the required parts and the standard (!) installation price here in The Netherlands, he quoted me a totally different price: between 500 and 600 Euros.

I think you'd better check around before buying.

In 2003 I paid (pre 19% VAT):
#8685703 remote control unit € 275
#8690153 remote start € 13,04
work: € 58,74

You also need the AEM application and electronics box that cost € 268,07 (pre 19% VAT):
#8637261
#9499153
I believe that the AEM application is standard on a MY05 summum, so for less than € 350 pre tax the remote can be yours. It is expensive but very handy indeed. My MY05 2.5T will be delivered on saturday. The remote control unit was trasferred from my d5 to the 2.5T without any problem (free of charge / part of the deal).

This week the dealer is installing two Pioneer screens in the headrests, a Pioneer 6DVD changer and a unit to connect a PS2. I shall post some pics if anyone is interested.

I also saw that you have tuned your xc by Rica. I also did this with my s60, the performance is really great. What is your experience with the tuned xc 70.

Great, the torque is addictive. Fuel consumption down too. BTW, from production week 20 the d5 will deliver 185BHP standard.
My 2.5T will be tuned by Rica too.
