Thinking of picking up another XC70 soon and wasn't sure what kind of prices others are paying.

The lease rates now are pretty good at .54% interest and with the $2000 owner loyalty it begins to get real attractive. As far as my dealers contribution goes they are offering 2% over invoice but I think they can do better. Our next closest dealer offered $2500 off sticker for any car on the lot which is about $700 better than the 2% my dealer is offering now. I wanted to know what others are actually paying before I make an offer locally.

Thusfar, this is the best quote I've got:

New 2005 Volvo XC70 AWD with Automatic Transmission

Exterior Color: Silver Metallic

Interior: Graphite Leather

Options: Metallic Paint; Climate Package; Premium Package; Convenience Package; Premium Radio with 6 CD; Rear Facing Third Seat; Bi-Xenon Headlamps; DSTC, Rear Park Assist; Integrated Booster Seats; 40/20/40 Split Rear Seat; Interior Air Quality System

MSRP: $46,135.00

Invoice: $42,588.00

Edmunds TMV Price: $41,096.00 plus dealer fees

Your Sale Price: $40,696.00 plus tax only – NO DEALER FEES!

As you can see, it's about $2000 off Invoice. I think this is pretty reasonable.

Is that price including any incentives / rebates from Volvo or is that 100% dealer adjustment? I'm not sure about what the programs are in your area right now but around here I think Volvo is offering $2000 off for customers buying.

Yes, the price quoted is exactly what I'd be paying plus tax. Until Feb 28 Volvo has marketing support to dealers in the amount of $2000, I believe, not $1500.

So let's do the math here....

Sticker - $46,135
Invoice - $42,588
Sale price - $42,696 (before rebate)

That's $112 over cost......not bad I guess. Has anybody here ever worked in the Auto sales industry and actually know what kind of margins they make on these things. I've been told that it's over 20% making the "True" invoice price much lower. However I've never heard it firsthand from anybody in the business.

You sound rather disappointed with my quote, which is about $3,000 better than your next closest dealer's offer (and it's a quote on my special order, not something off the lot).

No, you likely have a good offer, I'm just trying to compare to deals everybody else is getting. So let's compare, leave out the $2000 Volvo is kicking in since that's a constant and has nothing to do with the dealers offer.

It looks to me like your dealer is offering you the car for $112 over the "Public" invoice.

My local dealer's first offer was 2% over invoice which is a fair deal but sounds like their standard rate. On a vehicle equipped like yours that works out to about $850.00 over, which on a $45,000 car is "reasonably" close to your deal.

My next closest dealer offered $2,500 off of sticker (before rebates) which again on a car like yours works out to over $1000 over invoice....makes your deal start to look pretty good.

I can certainly use your deal to negotiate with my local dealer....another $700 will knock $20 a month off the payment.....hey it's enough to pay my cable bill.

Sys-

$46,135 is a big sticker, given that the base price is around $35,300. Does that include the destination charge?

I wonder what the maximum possible sticker price is. I have have to do some playing with autobytel or the 'build your volvo' site and see.

(LATER ADDITION - ACCORDING TO THE VOLVO SITE, THE BIGGEST STICKER POSSIBLE IS US$48,480, INCLUDING DESTINATION COSTS)

At some point, it brings a whole new set of competitors to mind - once you're in the top half of the $40k's, you are in Audi allroad territory, and you can even see the M-B E-320 wagon on the horizon.

Yes, it includes the destination charge. $48,480 US sounds about right for everything. My option package doesn't include alloy wheel, navigator and sirius radio but everything else.
